Mediterranean Grill Restaurant Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I was excited when the Mediterranean Grill opened near our house, because I love Middle Eastern food. The first few times I went there, it seemed like they were not quite ready for prime time. The food was just ok, and the service was slow. Well, they have come a long way. I placed my order by phone, and it was ready to go when I got there. We ordered the lamb and the chicken kabobs, hummus with warm pita (made in house), and falafel. Everything was excellent. I can't speak for the other food on the menu, but what we ordered was great. Just one note about the atmosphere. For us, and I think for many customers, the Mediterranean Grill is primarily a takeout spot. The restaurant is tiny, located next to Subway and an Edward Jones. I would ever go there to sit down and eat, because there is no place I could sit where I would be all that far from the cash register or the front door. For takeout, though, Mediterranean Grill is highly recommended.

Visiting the area for work and needed a Greek fix. Was happy to find this gem. Had the Shawarma with lamb, falafel balls, baklava and chai. The chai was not too sweet and lovely. The Shawarma was huge as were the falafel balls. The Taziki sauce was delish and the tahini lovely and nutty. I order the rolled baklava and regretted I didn't get the triangle as the filling wasn't as prominent. The staff was young but friendly, helpful and attentive.

We've been here several time and enjoyed it and will be back. Stick with the 3-kabob platter (lamb, beef & kafta) - enough for two, and add a side. Very friendly help, and run by a Syrian family. Shopping center ambience, easy access and parking, and next to New Seasons and Peet's Coffee. Now that my old favorite Ya Hala has screwed up their menu, this will be the alternate. Pray for Syria!

Not horrible but not good either. I am a lover of Mediterranean cuisine this is way below average and high priced.

The last time I ordered here I had the Mediterranean burger. The meat patty was a bit too salty for my liking but I still enjoyed it. Other than the meat being different (not your typical ground beef), everything else about the burger was pretty standard. Basic bun, basic vegetables, etc. Nothing else stood out as great or unique to me. Their gyros here are excellent. Mediterranean Grill serves up pretty large gyros packed with meat and vegetables. Very generous portion size when it comes to this item. This is what I got the first time I ate here and would definitely get it again. Overall from what I have tried, the burgers are just okay for me, but the wraps and gyros here are what is worth an order. Next time I check this place out, I will be trying out the lamb pizza.

I tried a "gyro like" sandwich. It had a lamb/beef tasting meat on it. Lots of what tasted like steamed meat, not flat topped like I prefer. I can't say it was bad, they never claimed it was a gyro. But it was confusing to me, and just not so good. They had very patient and helpful servers. I may just need to try something else. I like the place, just don't come here if you're expecting pop culture Greek grub. Their authentic meals are probably great.

I've been to this place five or six times over the last six months, and have had mixed experiences. In general, the food is average, not great in comparison to something like Nicholas if you factor in price. I've always had decent service but the food is really inconsistent. I've had the lamb shawarma on 3 different occasions and it was completely different every time, once with a ton of meat and virtually nothing else, and another with hardly any meat and mostly sauce and lettuce. The atmosphere is very casual and on the sterile feeling side, and I felt that with the quality of the food being so varied and the high prices, that it just doesn't add up.

ordered the lamb pizza for a work event. It was really good - lots of tender lamb, olives, tomato, cheese, on a tender, thick crust. would definitely order again.

The kabob combo was all very tender and tasty! Kafta, chicken and lamb... yum! Service was exceptional and they were very friendly. You'd never think pulling up to a shopping area, but very good.

  • Daniel T.

This place is total garbage. The food was barely edible, and some of it actually was not edible. If you've been to Nicholas or Ya Hala you will be so, so, so disappointed. If you have no taste buds and think Sherri's is pretty great then go ahead and enjoy Mediterranean Grill! Some of the problems we had with it: The falafel was overcooked, hard, cold, and the texture was all wrong - more like a hush puppy with too much raw garlic in it than anything else. The baba ghanoush was cold, from the fridge, not fresh, and even if it had been fresh the texture was too stiff and there was no smoky flavor. Very bland. You will be very sad you didn't do some extra driving up 205 and hit Ya Hala.

I don't get the good reviews for this place. I'm tempted to go back just to see if there's something we missed, but our first experience was so horrible, I don't think I can. Pita bread pulled out of plastic bags and microwaved! Bleck! Food was okay, but much better stuff can be gotten out of the deli at new seasons.

Reading some of the bad reviews made me pause before visiting. Boy am I glad I went anyway! EXCELLENT food, good value, big portions. Love that I have another meal to eat later, all for under 8.00!! The place is in a strip mall. Big whoop, why would that lower a rating? They certainly dont claim to be fine dining. Cute place, fun murals, nice little place!. The owners and staff were so wonderful and attentive. Havent seen this good of customer service since I couldnt tell you when. My daughter is picky and wanted no sauce on her sandwich. They brought out a little dish for her to taste and she loved it. The sauce was absolutely wonderful and ABSOLUTELY MADE FRESH. Dont know where the other reviewer got the idea it was from costco. Trust me I've bought the sauce from costco and this was not it. it was was most defiantly fresh. This is a new place and the owners are so very nice and hard working, the food is delicious and I actually opened a yelp account just to get my opinion in here so this place has a chance. I will be coming often and I'd hate to see a couple crabby people affect the success of a very good place to eat for a good price.

AMAZING AUTHENTIC TASTY!!! I've eaten at several different Middle Eastern restaurants before and have thought some things weren't as good as others, but EVERY SINGLE ITEM I tried was DELICIOUS! Thank you so much for a great evening! The staff our so friendly and attentive!!!! We loved the food so much my fiancé and I booked them to cater our rehearsal dinner in April! You have to try this place it is definitely a diamond in the rough of same ol happy valley options! Nice work Mediterranean Grill!!

to laura's comment,, you are mistaken, i know the original owners, and you know as well they were the managers and kept the food of highest quality and flavor,,, but then again you do have to work there to earn your paycheck,,, better to use the honest approach,, i really do miss the ORIGINAL owners too,,,

This place is awesome and the people who run it are really hospitable and helpful if you're a rookie with Mediterranean food. My wife and I discovered it about a month ago and we went back today with our daughters for lunch. Needless to say, but today was just as wonderful as our first experience. This place is so good that we plan on making the drive from Milwaukie again and again for their insanely huge Gyros and insanely good Kanafe!

went in at 2 in the afternoon. with only 1 person eating in, I ordered a sandwich to go. it was the saddest excuse for Mediterranean food I've ever had. I only had to wait 20 minutes for a meal that was precooked and very skimpy on the ingredients. I have traveled all over the middle east and I could have made better. the service is slow, and tastes like it was made by an American with no experience . won't go back

So I have been here twice: once right when they opened and another time just a week ago. I am VERY happy to say that this place has significantly changed - now with freshly made pita, bigger portions, great prices and GREAT food. We tried a sampler of pretty much all their offerings and I was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and attentive as well. It is definitely the best Mediterranean place around.

Decent food. The portions are large enough to share, the prices very reasonable, and there were many traditional options to chose from. We had the lamb shawarma with taziki (I know I am spelling that wrong) sauce, it was decent. It was enough to share and have approximately 6" of "sandwich" each. The pita was soft and fresh as they make it by hand. The vegetables were crisp. but not consistent in the size they were cut. The lamb was tender, however, while tender was totally lacking in any spice that would just make it burst with mouth watering flavor that I am used to with Greek/Mediterranean food. After finishing our shwarma we each had a piece of baklava. I am not sure if it is traditionally served cold but ours was and I know I prefer it at least room temperature. The pastry was a beautiful golden brown with lots of layers. The bottom filling was very thick and dense and hard to cut (likely from being cold), unlike the lamb this had a little too much spice. It was a very strong flavor of I think cinnamon. Over all it was a decent lunch but not fantastic. I would be willing to go back and give something else on the menu a try to see if that changes my current opinion but as of now it's only decent food that I am not truly motivated to go back for more of.

Waited 20 minutes for 1 lamb shawarma sandwich got it home and it was stone cold . I live 2 minutes away. Thought I would give it a try again and now have decided will not go back. Edit: I just tasted it. I will stick to the food cart near 40th and the movie madness.

Just to clarify this for those Yelpers who truly appreciate good, authentic Mediterranean food. The man who is now the owner has been the cook and manager since this establishment was opened. The changes that have been and are in the process of being made, including the addition of beer and wine, have been great improvements and add to the experience. The meat used has always been the same and has never been represented otherwise. Lamb, chicken (including the shawarma) and Soujouk Beef sausage is all Halal. The kafta beef, shrimp and shish sirloin have never been. Great care is made to try to accommodate the customer.

Food was good enough. Nothing too exciting. Next time, if there is a next time, I would order to go. Service sitting in and dining....not impressed.

Very nice & helpful owner, I really appreciate how passionate he is about his food! I have had the Shawarmas, Kabobs, & Pistachio ice cream, all were delish! I would recommend :)

I really like this place because it is unique and you can't find this kind of food anywhere close by. The chicken kabobs are my favorite. They are a little expensive but I can tell that the quality of the ingredients is very high and the portions are pretty large. Great place to eat if your looking for something a little different but extremely delicious!!

This place absolutely deserves a 5 star rating. The whole atmosphere, food, service and management is what makes this place a 5 star without question. My husband and I were intrigued by this place since this place has so many high ratings. This restaurant is small but as you enter you see a striking hand painted mural along the walls depicting the Mediterranean coast. The food was delish, I had a falafel sandwich and my husband had a lamb schwarma. The hummus was fresh too! What makes this a 5 star is that the owner came out and spoke with us for a good 25 minutes. He is such a great guy, I was so impressed with his philosophy on food. He even gave us some free baklava which is always a plus. I will be back for sure, this place is high on my list!

My wife and I love trying Mediterranean so we were hopeful in trying a place so close to our home. Unfortunately, this place was a huge disappointment. I got the soujouk shawarma, which was a large sandwich but bland beyond the seasoned sausage. We also got a meat pie, in which the meat was dry and greatly overpriced at $5 for a single pastry. The only saving grace was the garlic sauce. My wife got the chicken shawarma salad. It looked unappetizing and tasted even worse. The vegetables did not look fresh and the chicken was incredibly dry and had a paltry taste despite looking seasoned. I'm upset I spent over $25 on a dinner that we could barely finish because of how terrible it tasted. We will not be returning here.

  • Casey W.

I am sorry for low rating as I like to support my local businesses but something's got to change! The food is way over priced for the quality. It does not taste authentic . The Schwarma my husband got was tiny and bland and the falafel balls tasted totally bland and more like reheated frozen food. Why is it so expensive? It's not even a real proper sit down dining experience . More like a lunch counter place.

Amazing food, friendly staff and perfect location. Want to try everything On their menu. So far loved the Mediterranean pizza with lamb. The shawarma was my favorite. They even gave us a free appetizer.

In search of more than satisfactory Lebanese food we consulted yelp and found the Mediterranean grill. It is tucked away in a strip mall in an inconspicuous corner. I debated writing a review, this place is so amazing I would like to keep it to myself! The service was wonderful, the food was incredible. The owner was cooking and came out to see how we looked our food. He was very friendly, and asked us about how we liked certain things- he gave us recommendations for desert, which we ordered. They have a pistachio ice cream that is amazing- there are about as many nuts as ice cream! Everything we tried was fresh, seasoned to perfection and wonderful. I can't wait to go back!

This place is sub par at best. Came in for lunch with a friend from work while on break and only stayed cause we were at working and on a time crunch and feel cheated and overpriced. Out of lamb out of babaganoush out of shwarma so my choice was 10 dollars for a plate of hummos and a side of tabouli. They don't have have feta nor do they have dolmas and not just because they are out they dont carry either. This is my first and my last time I will be here. Who they are paying off or how they are getting rave reviews is beyond me. The staff was also less than attentive. Authentic according to who... People in happy valley must have never experienced good Mediterranean food... Such as Nicholas in Gresham or Gyro house in Beaverton... Sad really sad

I stumbled across this restaurant looking for something new- and I am so glad I did! The servers were very friendly and helped me navigate the menu and cuisine, which I was unfamiliar with. The food was prepared quickly, but tasted very fresh- the pitas were freshly out of the oven and the perfect warmth. And the food- oh my goodness, it was amazing! It was a perfectly seasoned, delicacy, and I could see, smell, and taste the freshness of the ingredients. I will ABSOLUTELY be coming back here often- and I will recommend it to everyone I know! Two HUGE thumbs up!

Stopped in here on a whim of curiosity. It was just a new place in an area I don't eat in very often..so why not. What a surprise to find a great little Med restaurant for a nice change of pace. I tried the shawarma kafta. It was fantastic. I believe it is the owners secret blend of meat and spices, wrapped in a pita. My first bite was like, "OMG, are you kidding me!". Great flavor in the meat, but nicely balanced by the fresh veggies, and whatever else the put in there. The place is small and casual. Great lunch place or for a casual, stop in dinner. This is not a fine, sit down restaurant. More of a Med cafe. Get over your fear of something different and try this place.

Ordered the Mediterranean Burger!! O MY GOSH!!! Best burger ever!!! Superb flavor and texture. My wife and daughter split the chicken kabob which was more than enough! So happy this place is near home.

We aren't from around here and were looking for a good Mediterranean place to eat dinner near the place we stayed. This was some delicious baba and hummus, and the service was excellent! The two young girls working there held it down and worked really hard. I would definitely recommend this place for some delicious and reasonably priced food!

My husband and I finally decided to try this local place and we are so glad we did. Ordered our food to go and had it delivered to Valley Growlers, a tap house just across the way. Super convenient and the friendliest staff. We've been here twice now for the kabobs - chicken/beef kafta/lamb/shrimp - all delicious! The salad is really good, too. My mother in law said the pita bread was fresh and tasty, especially dipped in the garlic sauce. I wish we had discovered this gem earlier. We eat paleo and it was very convenient to order plenty of protein & veggies without grains. Lots of delicious saffron rice comes with the kabob platters, so we usually order ala carte kabobs and salads. The curry cauliflower is amazing as well. For a special treat I'd like to come back and try the coffee. Looking forward to making this "our" neighborhood place!!

Came here with my boyfriend to try out something new. Small, but clean place, and I was fascinated by the wall paintings. I was so excited to finally try unique Mediterranean cuisine, and was actually sort of disappointed, seeing as this place has amazing reveiws. My boyfriend and I ordered some of that Tabouli to begin with, which was fresh and a-ok. Then we ordered lamb and chicken pizza, as well as rice and shrimp kebob. Everything was mediocre. Meaning something I could have made myself. The best thing about the visit was dessert, I had pistachio ice cream which was TO DIE FOR, and my boyfriend settled on kanafe. We also got to meet the owners, which was kind of cool, very nice people. With a little sprucing of flavors and some variation of food, this place would be a hit. It was a good experience, but definitely not the first place I would recommend for a good meal.

I love Mediterranean food and was looking forward to this place when I saw it open up. Let me start by saying the service was wonderful and friendly. I wish I could give them 5 stars for just their service, but I am rating the food as well. I eat a lot of Mediterranean food and even cook a great deal of it, I can honestly say that this place was just OK. There was nothing about it that made it stand out in my mind. When I eat this type of food I expect some major flavor, but the flavor was just lacking. I was also surprised that the salad did not have any feta cheese. All in all, it was bland and I will just go to my usual spot in Gresham.

We visited for the first time a couple nights ago. It is typical strip mall atmosphere, a few tables in a modest size room. The place was very clean. The server was friendly and efficient, all of our needs were met. It took between 15 and 20 minutes to get our food. Good, fresh food should not be rushed. You could tell it was prepared per order, not sitting around waiting to be served. The spices were superb and the meat tender. We will definately go back.

We grabbed some food to go last week. Part of that order was a side of rice and a lamb shwarma. Under the previous ownership I very much enjoyed the rice. Don't know if this was an off night but the rice was tasteless and very heavy in texture - it got tossed after a few bites. Ingredients in the shwarma looked fine but the lamb was missing the oomph in it's flavoring - something was just missing! The second half of the shwarma went in the garbage too. We will not be going back.

After reading YELP and thought I would try this place. So glad I did! What a gem of a place. The customer-service alone is 5-star! The food is just an added bonus! I had a combo plate (thinking I was only getting a little sample of each of the 3 items I chose!). OK, this should read combo PLATES. 3 full size portions of each item I chose came to the table! OUTSTANDING!!! I ordered the baba ghanjou (outstanding flavor!!!), the sambousak (meat pie) was to-die-for! And the tabouli was fresh and light flavored. All 3 were absolutely delicious. The garlic sauce that came with the meat pie was so good, I had to refrain from licking the ramekin clean!!! My mom had the Gyro. It was very tasty - just odd that it had pickles in it. Next time she would order without as she does not like pickles. My kids got the rice and the plate was HUGE! So tasty too! All the ingredients were fresh, everything was made to order and came out hot. Can't wait to go back and try other things. Wish they would serve liquor at this establishment - then it would be a great "date-night" place to go!!! The service was top-notch!! Even when my kids were sick and acting amuck! THe owner was so kid and friendly!!!

The BEST Mediterranean food I have EVER had!!!! Love love love this quiet little restaurant!! It's a MUST try!!!

  • Suzie H.

Owner is chatty but very hospitable and seems to genuinely want your feedback. I assume they've changed some things since the pita bread was absolutely fresh and warm. The falafel gyro I had was delish, it was cooked perfectly and it wasn't greasy at all. Save room for the homemade pistachio ice cream, it was very authentic and be ready to taste some rose water. This was a solid four star for a small middle eastern restaurant that caters to all types of patrons. I just wish they had a couple of other solid authentic dishes.

  • Stephanie B.

The food was INCREDIBLE!! Had both the lamb and the chicken. Both are equally tasty. The price is right and you get a lot for your money! Loved this place so much, I brought my sister back. Even my picky 11 year old niece thought the food was good! My daughter ordered a sandwich that her friend orders, that is not on the menu yet. OMG, it was soooo good. Lamb special (I believe). We have found our new favorite place!!!

I highly recommend if you like authentic Mediterranean food this would be the place to try. My wife and I enjoyed the sit down authentic atmosphere. If you like fresh food this would be a place to try.

Just OK fare; more like cafeteria food than neighborhood ethnic cuisine. Shawarma meat is nothing special, just processed frozen stuff most food carts buy at Restaurant Depot. The bread is not good, and the balance of spices and seasonings is on the weak side. There is room for improvement, and I'm sure the owners know well what authentic Arabic/Mediterranean food tastes like.

  • Katie C.

I would rate this place FIVE STARS if it had a warmer ambiance, wasn't in a strip mall AND they used earth-friendly To Go containers instead of STYROFOAM. Still, it's a cute little place, it's SO worth going to and I highly recommend it. The staff is darling, food is totally made from scratch and very authentic. Everything we tried was delightful!! Mezza plate, shwarma sandwiches and GIANT gyros on 12-in flatbread - enough to share, the best Turkish coffee we've ever had. Seriously yummy. We also spoke at length with the owner. They are very interested in feedback and improving the experience of the diners. Seems like they're ontop of things and really want to impress their patrons. *UPDATED from Four Stars to Three Stars: Last couple times we visited, the falafel was mushy and babaganouj didn't taste like it was home made...we have curbed our visits due to the seemingly deteriorating food quality.

When I have particular food in mind and want only that, a restaurant has hit the mark. The Mediterranean Grill has won me over. My favorite is the lamb kabobs, or kafta(?) (spiced) lamb. The food is fresh, and so delicious, I decided to write this review while I am hungry, and am looking forward to dinner from this place. I love tzsiki, and have to ask for it, rather than their other sauce, and recommend that exchange. I can't imagine anyone thinking this is only decent. It is simple perfection!

Fresh+Healthy+Ethnic=my kind of place! We've been here twice; once with hubby for his birthday lunch and the second time with the family of 5. The owner was very helpful in acquainting us to the menu. Ok, so I know falafel and I know baba ganoush. After that, I'm a little bit lost, but willing to learn! The first question-- what can my husband have that is dairy free? The answer-- everything but the baba ganoush. NICE! If he's happy, then we have passed the first hurdle of an enjoyable dinner. The second question-- no wine or beer? The answer-- liquor license coming soon. Ok, we can deal with that. They've only been open a short time. The third question-- do you make the pastries here? The answer-- of course. WINNER! This is a very low key place where you order at the counter. We were pleasantly surprised when we we were able to order "off the menu" asking to make up our own combination kabob platter. Very accommodating and friendly owners. "Next time, just tell me you can't have tomato on the salad. We'll make a special one for you." What we like: shrimp kabobs, lamb gyro, rice, mediterranean salad. My son loved the kafta kabob. We sat waiting for our food to arrive and we had a couple of thoughts about what might make the ambiance just a bit more enticing. 1. Music. 2. Table linen or decor of some sort (candle, flowers). Nothing fancy; just a little to make it a bit more intimate. Just because it's in a mall pad site, doesn't mean that when you walk through the door, you can't be transported to the Mediterranean.... We shall return.

Very fresh ingredients, large entrees. There is a warm, friendly staff. Loved the Arabic coffee. It was served 'Turkish' style with sugar and cardamom. This was our second visit, and we shall return!

Food is always super good, quick, and fresh. The owners and staff are also extremely friendly. I have eaten here mulitple times and never been disappointed. I love the lamb kabobs, lamb schwarma, and the hummus with fresh warm pita bread is to die for.

  • Matt H.

A friend and I shared a chicken and a lamb shawarma. The lamb looked, felt, and tasted very processed. It was like the middle eastern equivalent of spam or meatloaf. The rest of the ingredients were decent. The chicken also tasted weird to us. The prices were high for what we got. The staff and service were very good.

When I want a big sit down fancy dinner with all the trimmings I won't go here. That's not what they do. When I want a good healthy meal that is tasty, provides good value, is healthy and has excellent service, then I will come here. Syrian ( very close style-wise and geographically to Lebanon/Lebanese) cooking with a strong eye towards value. Service that is alert and there when needed, but not overwhelming. Owners that are present, even on a Saturday afternoon. Made fresh, not from a lot of processed stuff. Did I mention its very tasty and reasonably priced? The only negative is that its out where the sidewalk ends. But if I lived in Clackamas County, where the sidewalk ends, I would NEED something like the MG to maintain sanity.

I came in the other day for a late lunch. My sister and I were promptly greeted by a very sweet young lady who gave us her recommendations upon seating. We started with the tabbouleh, which was stunningly fresh. Safa, the owner, came out to speak with us. She was thrilled that we were enjoying ourselves and offered us some bread- oh sweet baby jesus, was that delicious. Warm, soft, perfectly wonderful, and obviously very freshly handmade. Entrees came out next- my lamb kabobs were perfectly seasoned and grilled, and were not overly gamey. The rice was to die for, as was the garlic yogurt sauce. When I ate a bite of everything with a piece of bread I nearly died. Then there was dessert. Oh, the homemade pistachio ice cream was to die for. First off, it wasn't green. Second, it was soft and velvety in texture. It was nothing I had expected for flavor. Seasoned with rose water, cinnamon and other spices it was floral and sweet, very unique, and was the perfect finale to a phenomenal meal. If I could give six stars I would. Service was tremendous, food was spectacular, and I was very happily surprised to find such a great restaurant in such an unlikely location. I will certainly be back

This place is amazing. One of my favorite all-time restaurants, and as of this writing I've only been here once! I will be back! YUMMMM! For entrees, I highly recommend the Combo Kabob. They are amazing! I'd give this place 5 stars for the quality of the food alone, but the atmosphere and waitstaff are also great. A friendly comfy place with FRESH tasty food and great prices too!

We stopped here after taekwondo and we were very impressed! Not only was the food incredible, but the service was so friendly we felt like family! The shawarma and burger were delicious, so was the kafta and we tried all the desserts too. The pistachio ice cream is like nothing you've ever tasted! We have a new favorite restaurant!

My husband and I wanted a peaceful place to eat near our home. We went here when they 1st opened. The food is very healty. We don't usually eat carbs but I was craving that pita bread. They mixed up our order and we received humius and taboli along with our pita bread. We had no idea this didn't come with our order. They were very nice about the error and comp'd it! I had the Chicken Kabobs. The young waitress was so friendly as well as the female Owner--"Safa". The walls are beautifully painted murals of Syria. I asked the owner about the food and learned that they only buy meat from animals that are fed food without hormones and they do their very best to buy only organic - pure--healthy products. I only wish the seats were more comfortable. We will be back again soon!

My son and I dined here for lunch yesterday. We ordered the hummus, baba ganoush and a falafel sandwich. Everything was excellent, but the baba ganoush stood out in particular to me. The man behind the counter (I think was the owner) said he smokes the eggplant, which added a nice depth to it. The pita bread is insanely good, my son couldn't get enough of it- we even asked for another piece to bring home with our leftovers, which we enjoyed for breakfast. We will definetly be visiting again soon.

Love the Mediterranean salad, chicken or combo kabob. The baba ghanouj has a balanced, smooth flavor. Not overpowered with too much garlic. Have tried all the dessert options over the last several visits and have decided kanafe is the super star here. Shredded kataife dough filled with cream and drizzled with rose water syrup. It is served warm. So good. Staff has always been friendly.

My fiancee and our roommate went to the Mediterranean Grill tonight for dinner for the first time and I personally can say that I was very impressed with the food AND the service. Not only was the food very good (I had a lamb gyro and the girls had kabob plates) but the employees were EXTREMELY nice. We will definitely be returning to this place!

I had high hopes for a new restaurant in Happy Valley, especially a Mediterranean place. My wife and I had dinner there tonight. Though the owners worked hard painting fresco murals, the dining area is not cozy. The service was good and everyone working there was very friendly. We started with their hummus, tabouli and Mediterranean salad. We agreed that they were all good, though the pita was not homemade. For dinner, we each had a chicken shawarma, hers on pita, mine on flatbread. They were both disappointing. There were cold French fries in each sandwich (their signature twist?). Probably on my list of lunch/carry out spots, but not dining. I will return to give other items on their menu a shot, but I will not be reordering the chicken shawarma.

We tried this place out a while ago, and I'm just now getting around to leaving a review. We wanted to try this location because my parents live in the Clackamas area, and my fiance is Uzbek/Turkish. Also my side of the family has some Greek in it. We saw a sign promoting Gyros and decided to give it a try. The place was kind of lacking a real atmosphere to it, and you could tell that the owners rushed to open their business as their menus weren't done, nor was their understanding of how not to falsely advertise. We ordered 2 Sharma's (that they were literally calling Gyros on their signs) they were very dry, lacking taste, had cold french fries and pickles in them. Okay so this is a 'Shawarma', not a 'Gyro'. The owner tried to argue with us that this is a Gyro; well no it's not a Gyro, it's a Shawarma. Same meat and bread wrap, totally different in toppings. Secondly we ordered their Sambusak, which is very similar to the Uzbek meal Somsa. It's basically a meat pie, with veggie fillings. We make home made Somsa's all the time, and these were really bad! Dry, overcooked, and cold! The only thing that was good, and obviously wasn't made by them, was the Baklava. We eat Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern cuisine quite a bit, and these guys are pretty bad. The owners are obviously trying to make a quick $, because if we owned a restaurant like this we would make the food, FROM SCRATCH! 5 stars, really? Mikes Drive In makes a better Gyro then these guys, and they specialize in burgers! Yahala, Ozzie's Deli, or Alexis are much better bets. Overall we were disappointed and we won't be back.

Ack! I LOVE this kind of cuisine and I've had the best in Portland. This isn't it. Sad because it's a great location that I visit a lot. But they're pulling their pita out of plastic bags - unacceptable! Most of the items were pre-made in some way (not by them- think Costco) and then barely specially prepared for the restaurant. There is so much potential here, but if I want store-bought pita, hummus and fallafel, I'll just buy it at New Seasons. To be fair though, we did not get the kabobs - just the sandwiches and several appetizers/sides, so the sadness due to the packaged pita was especially pronounced.

    (3)
  • Denny S.

    (1)

We will definately go back.

went in at 2 in the afternoon. with only 1 person eating in, I ordered a sandwich to go. it was the saddest excuse for Mediterranean food I've ever had.
